He was recently one of the faces of Dolce & Gabbana. He has already taken to the catwalk for big labels during major fashion weeks. He has made a name for himself in Portugal, but it is on the international scene that he has been able to work with the biggest labels. Portuguese Soul spoke with the model Rodrigo Almeida.
Do you remember your first job?
Yes. It was soon after I had been discovered by We Are Models. It was for the catalogue of a Portuguese label.
Last year you were the face of Dolce & Gabbana. Was that a special moment?
Yes, it was important because it gave me the chance to work with an excellent international team and to gain more experience, both professional and personal. Being in Milan, which is one of the world’s leading fashion cities, helped me realize I had much farther to go and that I was just at the beginning of my career.
What do you still want to do?
Professionally, I would love to work with a number of labels. I would especially like very much to work with Giorgio Armani. However, what I want most and what most fascinates me about the world of fashion is travelling to fascinating countries and cities and discovering new cultures.
You are still very young, but have you made any plans about what to do after the fashion industry?
I see fashion as a long-term career. I don’t think it will end soon, but in the future I would like to invest in renewable energy, take care of our planet so that future generations can enjoy it just like I have.
