Choices are a part of our day-to-day life, from the moment we open our eyes in the morning to the moment we close them at night. Some believe in free will and in our ability to decide, while others believe in destiny and fate and that our choices are made for us, right down to the colour of t-shirt we put on in the morning. Based on these realities — and in the event everything is destiny — are some small choices that have probably always rattled around in my head, and which I would like (very much) to share. And which were, perhaps, always destined to cross paths with the readers.

A place
S. João National Theatre. Culture has never been as important as it is now. And while we are unable to portray all the cinemas, concert halls and theatres, here, symbolically, is one of the places where the eyes will flit between the stage and the majestic ceiling that crowns the space. The programme is equally overwhelming.
Jewels
Portuguese. There is never any doubt: choose national. Yet there are so many brands that are so special I must write them down. But knowing the brands is synonymous with knowing the people who give them life. So, if you want to feel at home, then it’s worth having a look at the beauty of Nuuk.
A book
José Saramago will always be the first choice, perhaps because of fate, but a Nobel laureate is always a Nobel laureate, and passion is always passion. The Tale of the Unknown Island is an exciting short story that is perfect for our inner child.
Sculpture
This is not the first art form to come to mind, but if we believe human hands can create true works of art, then we realise there is a mystery within sculpture to which we are attracted. And speaking of mysteries and of works of art, there is nothing quite like discovering the work of Iva Viana.
