The town of Santa Maria da Feira has some of the best ingredients for success: territory, natural beauty, culture, and history. But there is something that beats this list: gastronomy. In pastry, the tradition is exquisite, but eating well is guaranteed for anyone who visits the city. The possibilities range from the most traditional Portuguese cuisine to Italian cuisine, as well as a good amount of petiscos (appetizers). Here are four restaurant suggestions. The promise is the same: you will want to come back.
As the name suggests (lago translates into lake), you will savour your meal with a special sight over the lake, in the middle of Europarque. Lago combines several spaces — lounge, bar, restaurant, and terrace — with a privileged location. Its motto is to surprise and delight the most demanding palate with exquisite gastronomic experiences that focus on high-quality traditional and gourmet food.
The team of cooks is led by Chef Ramos, who is responsible for ensuring a true experience of flavours through the confection of traditional and gourmet food of the highest quality. In addition, the restaurant’s menu has various gastronomic options that promise to satisfy all wishes, presenting a list of options that range from traditional cuisine to Gourmet, Sushi, Italian, Vegan and Vegetarian options. During the week, the restaurant offers executive options and, at the weekend, it is the chef’s mission to surprise and delight the most demanding palate.

Every story has a happy ending. At least, it is what Praceta promises us. Located in the historic centre of Santa Maria da Feira, it opened its doors in 2009, and, since then, those in charge of it assure us that they have been very happy.
At the root of all this? Love and friendship. A unique space where the magical atmosphere provides a unique experience. From Portuguese food to Italian dishes, the result is an unforgettable sea of flavours. The thoughtfully prepared food will make anyone feel at home.
If we haven’t convinced you yet, here is another argument. With the city being all year around a stage for various shows and projects, the restaurant adapts to the city’s surroundings and offers various themed lunches and dinners.
Where? Rua das Fogaceiras 15, 4520–162 Santa Maria da Feira
A formal and conventional restaurant? Forget it. Norte is informal, a centenary house full of nooks and crannies, with interior spaces, a good terrace, and a garden that smells of hydrangeas. At least, it is how the restaurant chooses to present itself. At Norte, meals are served with a smile and customers are welcomed by their name. Portuguese flavours are savoured at lunch, breaks, and dinner. In Norte, you will not simply eat or drink, you will live. Do this, do not pay too much attention to this talk. Stop by even if it is just for saying “hello” and then sit down if you feel like it. In addition to the welcoming space, Cervejaria promises the best of northern gastronomy, which is the same as saying: francesinha. There are other options, just as wonderful, for lovers of snacks and hamburgers. The beer to go with it is (almost) mandatory, and the sweets to finish will be the cherry on top of the cake.
Where? Street Dr. António Carlos Ferreira Soares, 4520–213 Santa Maria da Feira
It is an elegant restaurant with a qualified wine cellar and fine cuisine with Portuguese flavours. Terra Mãe is, undoubtedly, a project that pays tribute to traditional Portuguese cuisine.
From starters to typical sweets, it will be difficult to choose. But the good news do not end there. To accompany the meal, you can take the opportunity to get to know the long list of Portuguese wines.
In the heart of São João de Ver, this place pays tribute to nature in a cosy and sophisticated atmosphere while promising an unforgettable meal.
