We could call him that because of his incredible distinguished eyes (he has different coloured eyes and maybe that’s the reason he can see the world in a way not all of us can perceive). He’s able to transform the most common places where we pass by everyday into paradise resembling landscapes; He has unique perspectives about every subject which he takes care with such magic that not all the people have. We could say by that that he makes magic with his lenses.
We have previously called him the Master of Light because there is, without hesitation, a special light in his pictures. Fred, as we affectionately call him, is a soul that makes everyone feel just like they are on those places he captures: he makes us feel the smell of the beach or the wind in the forest as we look through the pages. And we get to feel that we’re seeing what he sees, even if it is just for a sheermoment.
He has been around for more than twenty years now. He first tried to pursue a career as a veterinary and agronomy. However, his grandfather’s National Geographic broadened his horizons and definitely changed his life.
He now divides his time between Oporto, Paris, London and NY, and collaborates with great publications such as Elle, Glamour, GQ and Vogue.
We couldn’t be any more proud of him. He has contributed for Portuguese Soul since day one. He dreamed as much as we did. And, ten years later, we believe he’s not even halfway his path; and neither is our collaborative force as a whole. For that we can only say that has been an amazing ride together.
